HOW THE QUEST WORKS:

Enter Azeroth Challenge Overview

  1. Microsoft is sponsoring a sweepstakes for Microsoft employees in the Seattle area only, to encourage visitors and sales at Windows Marketplace.
  2. The sweepstakes begins on September 5, 2006, ends on September 22, 2006, and involves a scavenger hunt played on the Redmond campus and online.
  3. Pocket cards containing an invitation to get the "inside scoop" and a free ice cream will be distributed by mail to the mailbox of every Seattle-area-based employee between August 22-25. The inside scoop cards will contain a list of the ice cream distribution locations, dates, and times.
  4. Starting on August 28, FREE ice cream will be distributed by ice cream motorcycles at the locations listed on the inside scoop pocket cards. Anyone who goes to a motorcycle location will receive a "digital locker" pocket card with the list of locator clues that can help them find the characters on campus.
  5. Starting on September 5, larger-than-life-sized cutouts of popular gaming characters will be distributed on campus.
  6. Teaser ads will appear in the MicroNews and on giant foam core dragons located in 9 cafés on campus the week of September 5.
  7. Locater clues will also appear on giant digital locker posters around campus, and on the www.enterazeroth.com Web site, encouraging Microsoft employees to search for and locate the characters on campus or online.
  8. Once a character is located, the employee will find a question written on the character.
  9. For off-site employees, the Web site encourages them to network with Redmond employees to find out what the question asks or to check back inside the digital locker online. Each character will show up in the digital locker two days after they arrive on campus.
  10. Once an employee finds a character and learns their question, they must search for the answer to the question on Windows Marketplace.
  11. Armed with the answer to the question, the employee then goes to www.enterazeroth.com to submit their answer.
  12. To do so, they must first enter their alias to enter the digital locker.
  13. Within the digital locker, the multiple-choice answers will appear and the employee can select his or her answer.
  14. For those who cannot locate the characters on campus or remotely, the gaming character will appear within the digital locker two days after appearing on campus.
  15. At that point, all Microsoft employees will be able to view the question (after logging on to www.enterazeroth.com) and are encouraged to research the answer on Windows Marketplace before submitting their answer on www.enterazeroth.com.
  16. All quest contestants will receive a limited-edition Quest T-shirt just for entering the digital locker. The Web site will track their participation based on the entry of their alias, full name, and location.
  17. Contestants who answer all 10 questions correctly online by September 20 get their name entered into the grand prize drawing FIVE TIMES to win Azeroth's grand prize: an Alienware PC with a bundle of games and gaming accessories, or great prize: a plasma TV with a bundle of games and gaming accessories.
  18. Contestants who answer all 10 questions correctly online by September 22 will be entered ONCE to win Azeroth's grand prize: an Alienware PC with a bundle of games and gaming accessories, or great prize: a plasma TV with a bundle of games and gaming accessories.
  19. The winner will be announced on www.enterazeroth.com on September 25, 2006.
